1st-3rd Graders: Mondays from 3:45-5:45pm starting September 9th through November 18, 2019

PLEASE CHOOSE ONE CLASS FROM EACH ONE-HOUR TIME SLOT:

$175 for two classes

MUSICAL ADVENTURE WITH TUNED PERCUSSION (3:45-4:45PM) | INSTRUCTOR: MARSHA BEELER

Students in this class will be learning rhythmic/melodic music patterns, simple note reading, and ensemble playing using tone chimes, boomwhackers, and other tuned percussion instruments.

DANCE IN TIME (3:45-4:45PM) | INSTRUCTOR: TBA

Students will be introduced to the dance technique of ballet and tap/clog and will explore the folk dance of Norway.

ART CLASS (3:45-4:45PM) | INSTRUCTORS: JEN GRAFTON & VIVIANE MASCHER

Come make art inspired by Disney’s movie, Frozen. Students will learn how to draw some favorite characters, make their own ice castle, paint winter wonderlands and more! This class will explore all seven of the Elements of Art (line, shape, form, color, value, texture, and space) with special emphasis on watercolor techniques. Mediums include crayon, pastel, pen and ink, mixed media, collage, and watercolor.

*VOCAL PERFORMANCE (4:45-5:45PM) | INSTRUCTOR: MARSHA BEELER

*Students in this class will work on music technique, vocal performance, and will participate in the musical Frozen, Jr as the “Hidden Folk” on Friday, November 15th in the Main Auditorium. They will be required to come in for an additional dress rehearsal on Wednesday, November 13th from 3:45-5:45PM.

DRAMA “FROZEN” WORKSHOP (4:45-5:45PM) | INSTRUCTOR: TBA

Students will learn basic drama technique through drama games using pantomime, movement, and characterization.

ART CLASS (4:45-5:45PM) | INSTRUCTORS: JEN GRAFTON & VIVIANE MASCHER

Rehearsals will be from 3:45-5:45PM on Monday and Wednesday afternoons with a final performance on Friday evening, November 15th at 7PM in the Main Auditorium.

4th-8th Graders: FINE ART & THEATER CLASSES WEDNESDAYS from 3:45-5:45pm starting September 11th through November 13, 2019

DRAWING (3:45-4:45PM) | INSTRUCTOR: JEN GRAFTON

Learn how to make concept art for your own version of Frozen! Concept Artists help directors plan out their movies before they start filming. Concept Art can be anything from designing characters to costumes, to props, and to sets. We will be studying character design, set design, composition, and shading. Materials include pencil, charcoal, and pastel.

PROP MASTERS (4:45-5:45PM) | INSTRUCTOR: VIVIANE MASCHER

Come make props for our Fall Production of Frozen Jr! Projects can be taken home after the performances. Mediums include painting and sculpting.

PAINTING (4:45-5:45PM) | INSTUCTOR: JEN GRAFTON

Come paint scenes and characters from Disney’s Frozen! Students will learn how to use gouache techniques, light and shadow, and color theory to bring their masterpieces to life. Projects include: winter wonderland, Arendelle castle, and character portraits.

COSTUME DESIGN (4:45-5:45PM) | INSTRUCTOR: VIVIANE MASCHER

Learn about textile art and how to make costume pieces. These costumes will be worn by our student actors in our upcoming performance, Frozen Jr. Artwork can be taken home after the performance. Mediums include painting, printmaking, and applique’.
